There’s a Big Beach Clean happening in Garryvoe – here’s how to take part

It’s a great way to pay it forward while getting some exercise.
Clean Coasts is organising its Big Beach Clean 2021 on Garryvoe Beach on Saturday, September 18th and they’ve put a call out for volunteers to help them remove litter from around the Cork coast after the end of the bathing season.
During the Big Beach Clean, Clean Coasts volunteers are asked to carry out marine litter surveys to quantify the amount and types of litter on Irish beaches. These surveys are aimed at heightening awareness about the issue of marine litter and serve as an indicator of the magnitude of the problem.
This event is also taking place over the same weekend as World Clean-Up Day, which unites more than 20 million people in 180 countries, who come together to tackle litter.
The Big Beach Clean at Garryvoe takes place from 10am-11:30am and you can register for free here.
Places are limited so register while you can. All participants are asked to ensure to wear suitable clothing and footwear (warm clothes, waterproofs, and sun cream) and to keep a two-metre distance throughout the event, as per the Covid-19 guidelines.
