A lovely new coffee dock is open for business on Long Strand in Castlefreke

By Yay Cork July 21, 2026July 20, 2026

It’s a little slice of heaven.

There’s nothing quite like grabbing a coffee with the Atlantic Ocean as your backdrop, but even the most scenic seaside spots need a little TLC from time to time.

The coffee dock at Long Strand on the Wild Atlantic Way has had a fresh new upgrade, with the old container making way for a brand-new setup ready to handle another busy summer by the sea.

For visitors, it means not having to join the queue for fish and chips if you’re only after a cappuccino, although you might wish you had.

While the beachside location is a dream for visitors, being right beside the ocean comes with its challenges.

“Being right by the sea is fantastic, but it also means dealing with rust and constant maintenance. Our old container had reached the end of its life, so it was time for an upgrade,” the team announced on Instagram, sharing a video of the new container being delivered by crane.

Thanks to Tommy and Davy Hayes of Hayes Cabins, the new coffee dock is now in place and already serving up cups of West Cork Coffee, alongside homemade treats, to beachgoers making the most of the summer weather.

So whether you’re heading for a stroll along the strand, a ramble in the dunes or simply in need of a caffeine fix with a view, Long Strand’s newest addition has you covered.
