The Triskel is celebrating female directors with some superb films this week

She’s one of the most fiercely original voices in contemporary cinema.
This week, Triskel Christchurch will screen four films by Lynne Ramsay, tackling a wide range of subjects, from a mother’s difficult relationship with her son to corruption and violence.
As part of Deep Focus: Women in Film, a celebration of female directors, Triskel Christchurch is showing Ramsay’s four feature films and several shorts.
And you better buckle in, because there’s a wild ride in store. Happily, there’ll be a chance to chat about them before you go home.
‘These are powerful films and we think they and the post-screening discussions with Oonagh Kearney, Sarah Cleary and more will resonate with audiences.’ says Chris O’Neill, Head of Cinema at Triskel Arts Centre.
The Lynne Ramsay Retrospective began on Sunday with Ratcatcher, followed by Morvern Callar, starring Samantha Morton, on Monday.
We Need to Talk About Kevin, starring Tilda Swinton, and You Were Never Really Here, starring Joaquin Phoenix, will be screened tonight Tuesday, May 22nd and tomorrow Wednesday, May 23rd (6pm) respectively.
