The St Luke’s toll booth is now home to a fabulous pop-up shop

It might be Cork’s most adorable business.
If you pass the busy junction of St. Luke’s Cross on the daily grind, you’ll have noticed something rather wonderful happening there lately: every Thursday, Friday and Saturday the centre plaza is transformed into a blossoming country garden.
It’s all down to Kelly O’Sullivan’s Flowersmith Studio, a pop-up floristry shop that has been delighting locals and visitors to the trendy St. Lukes area.

Built around 1880, the octagonal toll booth was originally put in place to collect a tax on livestock and produce entering the city. Tolls were abolished in 1927, but the charming booth has been renovated in recent years by Cork City Council and is now a symbol of the village.
Kelly’s whimsical, free-form signature style is hard to ignore; the flowers and foliage are locally sourced and the bouquets are wrapped in burlap or recyclable brown paper and twine so they’re eco-friendly too.

Over Easter you can pick up an arrangement in a beautiful vintage tea tin – the perfect gift for your dinner host.
Or yourself.

As well as the Thursday, Friday and Saturday Pop-Up Shop at The Old Toll Booth, St Luke’s Cross, you can also find Kelly’s creations at The Blackrock Village Sunday Market on Sundays.
