It’s beyond cosy.
The Lough Café officially opened its doors on the Lough Road this morning at 8.30am and after a swift lap of the Lough between showers, we were among the first customers to check it out.
The popular outdoor area has been refreshed in preparation for the summer, complete with al fresco chandeliers, but the main attraction right now is the gorgeous eclectic indoor café, a new, purpose-built addition in slick matte black.
A huge counter is heaving with muffins, cakes and pastries and coffee is by 3fe but there’s a good ‘old cup of Barry’s Tea available too, as well as herbal blends and ginger beer if you’re after something refreshing after a walk or a run.
Cosy candlelit tables are arranged under bright blue walls festooned with local art and curiosities, making for a cosy spot to chill out with a book or catch up with your mates.
If ever there was a reason to put a regular lap of the Lough back on your schedule, this is surely it.
The café will open Monday to Friday, 8.30am-6pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 6pm.
