The Hook Clinic is bringing the latest in medical aesthetics to West Cork

By Yay Cork June 16, 2025June 12, 2025

Brought to you by The Hook Clinic.

West Cork: it’s already a wellness wonderland.

With endless sea swims, sandy beaches, cosy saunas, and more yoga sessions and retreats than you can shake a downward dog at. But just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, a new business has arrived, putting the perfect finishing touch on our slice of zen paradise.

Dr Laoise Hook BA (Hons.), MPhil, MBBS is bringing the latest in facial aesthetics to one of the most magical spots in the country, with a brand new clinic now open in Skibbereen.

Nestled in the breathtaking beauty of the very edge of Ireland, The Hook Clinic is all about subtle, restorative treatments that give you that you-look-amazing-what’s-your-secret? vibe, rather than a full-on facial overhaul. Think of it as hitting the refresh button, not the reset button.

Dr Hook believes that facial aesthetics is for everyone, and that it’s an unfortunate trend towards heavy lip filler and frozen faces that has frightened many people off.

“Put simply,” she explains, “medical aesthetics uses advances within the medical and pharmaceutical industries to slow the signs of skin ageing and help to bring back areas of lost volume. Done well, facial aesthetics should be virtually unnoticeable, and you should just look a better version of yourself.”

Dr. Hook trained in the UK, studying anti-wrinkle injections on Harley Street, then, wisely, decided to pack up her bags and bring her family (three small boys) home to the gorgeous, wild west of Cork. She’s here to stay, and she’s bringing her expertise with her.

Curious about the latest treatments?

If you’re new to the world of aesthetics and feeling a bit overwhelmed, don’t sweat it. Dr. Hook’s clinic offers initial consultations where you can chat through all the options, get the lowdown on the best approach to skincare, and basically get educated before making any decisions.

No pressure, just good, honest advice. Even €75 of the €150 consultation fee is redeemable against products or services booked on the day. All prices are clearly listed here.

So, what’s on the menu for that subtle glow-up? They’re offering everything from anti-wrinkle injections to peels, resurfacing, skinboosters, and polynucleotides. And they’ll soon be rolling out laser and IPL treatments for all those common concerns like rosacea, pigmentation, and acne scarring.

This isn’t just about the face. They’re also a one-stop shop for wellness and regeneration, with a dedicated women’s health/menopause clinic (including the fancy Emsella Chair for pelvic floor strengthening). Plus, they’ve got a medical weight loss clinic too.

So, whether you’re after a little refresh, some expert skincare advice, or looking to tackle bigger wellness goals, this new West Cork gem is the place to be. Time to plan that scenic spin and treat yourself or team a visit with your summer staycation.

The Hook Clinic is now open at 76 North Street, Skibbereen, Co. Cork, P81NY92, with a consultation room in Schull by appointment only. Visit thehookclinic.ie for more information or to book an appointment. Email info@thehookclinic.ie or call 087 3319825 for more information.
