The €14 Penneys tool that does better waves than your GHD

You can either do it or you can’t.
Every since stylists started turning out glossy, bouncy waves and curls using only their trusty hair straighteners, women have been separated into two camps.
There are those who can whip out a red-carpet worthy head of waves with their eyes closed… and then there are those of us who burn an ear or blister a finger every time we attempt it.
Well, no more.
Strolling through Penneys this week, ruminating on the hundreds of euros I’ve spent on wands, irons, tongs and various other gadgets to add some ‘oomph’ to my straight hair, something caught my eye.
It looked like a normal hair straightener, but with two major differences; one, it was only €14 and two, it had a slightly different shape.
The Penneys ‘2 in 1’ Hair Straightener looks more or less like a normal flat iron, but the outside ridge is curved.
All you need to do is clamp each piece of hair (about an inch or so in width) and gently twist as you run the tool through your hair.
Filled with doubt I took it home and gave it a shot. Voila; INSTANT WAVES.
At just €14 I was fully expecting for this gadget to join the rest of the (insanely expensive) forgotten appliances in the basket under my dressing table.
In reality, I’ve dumped the rest and I’m now using this one exclusively.
It heats up fast and works like a dream – you can even use it for normal straightening. I’m not afraid to admit I’m deeply in love with this thing.
My hair finally looks ‘done’ without shelling out for a blow-dry twice a week.
I may even pick up a spare, just in case.
