The Black Dog is back (but better) and about to relaunch on North Main Street

Brought to you by The Black Dog.
BDSM is all grown up.
One of Cork’s favourite dive bars is currently completing the final phase in its 2022 makeover and will reopen as The Black Dog at the end of May.
And with a zingy new Mexican menu on the sizzle at the new-look Old Town Taqueria out back and a selection of cracking cocktails to work through on those hot summer nights, it’s about to be one of our favourite places to drink.

“We have trebled the size of our kitchen to focus on authentic Mexican food, smoked over coals on the in-house Kamado grill,” says Conor Lyons.
“The menu will change weekly based on what’s in season and the ingredients we can source locally.
“Since establishing Ireland’s first dedicated mezcaleria in 2013, we have built one of the country’s finest selections of tequila and mezcal so we have a solid reputation for forward-thinking cocktails.

“We are passionate about agave spirits too and have always placed a large emphasis on both innovation and authenticity.”
Diners will also enjoy a delicious selection of wines to complement their food.
Tell me about the music though…
Long-time patrons can rest assured that their favourite elements from BDSM have been carefully considered, preserved and improved.
Rock music will still be front and centre, with DJs from Thursday (Indie night, FYI) to Saturday and an all-new custom-made sound system built to spec by Toby Hatchet, the man behind some of the most talked-about sound systems in the country.
Hatchet’s creations grace venues such as Connolly’s of Leap to The Big Romance in Dublin and they look as good as they sound. At The Black Dog, the new speakers have been specially painted by world-renowned motorbike painter Ger Conlon.
The Black Dog reopens at No. 53 North Main Street in May. Keep an eye on their Instagram feed for updates.
