From bold reds or crisp whites, Cork foodies and sommeliers are joining forces for all manner of delicious tastings involving vino and paired bites.

1. Wine Tasting at Heart of Spain
When: Saturday, May 13th, 3pm to 4.30pm at Fota Retail Park in Carrigtwohil
This family-run business in the Fota Retail Park has a shop full of the best picks from Spanish artisan producers, wineries and growers. On Saturday, May 13th, shoppers can try out the finest wines from Castilla y Leon during an afternoon of wine tasting and education with host, sommelier Lynda Coogan.
From crisp whites to bold reds, Coogan will guide the group through each wine, sharing her expertise on the region, grape varieties, and production methods that make each bottle unique.

2. Raw Cheese and Wine Tasting at St Francis Provisions
When: Sunday, May 14th, 2023 from 1pm to 4pm
To celebrate Irish Raw Cheese Week from May 8th to 15th, the St Francis crew is hosting a gathering to taste some of their favourite raw cheese from The Lost Valley Dairy, perfectly complemented by raw wine from Brian’s Wines.
“We will be making some tasty bites and hope you’ll come and discover something new with us,” they say. They’ll also be pouring additional wines from Brian’s selection by the glass for the whole afternoon ….

3. The Great Sushi-Off – Revisited at L’Atitude 51
NOW SOLD OUT: Thursday, May 25th, 7.45pm at L’Atitude 51, Union Quay
What tipple goes best with sushi? At this event, the L’Atitude 51 crew intends to find out. Local Michelin-starred chef Takashi Miyazaki will present his preferred sake, John McKenna of the McKenna Guides has offered to weigh in with an Irish whiskey and the L’Atitude team will be creating a special cocktail for the occasion.

4. An Italian Virtual Cheese & Wine Evening
When: Friday, May 26th, 2023 in your living room.
If you quite enjoyed the luxury of Zoom socialising during the lockdown, Sheridan’s has a little event you can once again enjoy in your PJs. Kevin Sheridan and Enrico Fantasia will host an Italian Cheese and Wine evening on Friday, May 26th from 8pm to 9.30pm.
The selection of cheese and crackers along with two wines will be sent to participants before the event. You can then log on via Zoom, where Kevin and Enrico will chat through the wines and cheeses, answering all your questions on the fascinating worlds of artisan cheeses and fine wines.
