Take yourself off to a magical evening harp concert in the Honan Chapel

By Yay Cork October 13, 2025

Is there any sound more enchanting than the whisper of a harp?

If the shimmering strings of this timeless instrument make your heart flutter, then you’re in for a treat. UCC TradSoc, in collaboration with Harp Ireland | Cruit Éireann, is inviting you to an unforgettable celebration of harp music — and best of all, it’s completely free to attend.

A ‘Harpers in the Honan” concert will take place on Tuesday, October 14th at 7.30pm.

“We have a fantastic lineup, featuring Liam Fitzgibbon and Lucy Teape, Aisling Urwin, Oisín Morrison and Tommie Cunniffe.” said the organisers.

“Join us for an unmissable celebration of harping in advance of Harp Day | Lá na Cruite 2025.”

Only 35 tickets are available for the evening so book your free seat now here.

More to come

Cork will come alive with the sound of the harp on Saturday, October 18th, as Cruit Éireann | Harp Ireland presents the ninth annual Lá na Cruite | Harp Day — a nationwide celebration of Ireland’s national instrument.

This year’s theme, Nasc (Connection), celebrates the harp’s power to bring people together across generations, communities, and cultures. Across Cork and beyond, harpers will fill concert halls, libraries, and heritage spaces with music that continues a living 1,000-year-old Irish tradition, recognised by UNESCO as part of the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

This year also sees the launch of Sharing Harps, a new CÉHI Call for Harps initiative connecting unused instruments with a new generation of players, who cannot afford an instrument of their own. Donated harps will find homes with young harpers across Ireland, ensuring every harp continues to tell its story and every aspiring harper has the chance to play.
