Here’s a fun way to jazz up your daily walk.

A new audio tour set to be released this week will offer a free guided tour of Cork’s Marina in Blackrock… all from your smartphone.

Produced by Cllr Kieran McCarthy as part of this year’s Cork Harbour Festival, the self-guided audio trail will provide some fascinating background to how one of Cork’s most popular walking trails came to be.

“The Marina is lucky, unlike other suburbs, that many of its former residents have left archives, autobiographies, census records, diaries, old maps and insights into how the area developed,” said Cllr McCarthy.

“These give an insight into ways of life and ambitions in the past, some of which can help the researcher in the present day in understanding The Marina’s evolution and sense of place going forward.

“Take a walk with us and discover more.”

The audio tour will be available here to stream on your smartphone from Friday, June 4th-14th, 2021.
