Status Red: Weather warning upgraded in Cork ahead of ‘very severe’ winds

It’s the most severe weather warning we have in Ireland.
Status Red alerts are rare, so it would be wise to heed the latest weather warning issued by Met Éireann.
“Between 9pm and midnight Storm Ellen will produce a core of very severe and destructive winds.” said the national forecaster, as the earlier Status Orange alert was upgraded this afternoon.

When a Status Red severe weather warning is issued “people in the areas expected to be affected should take action to protect themselves and/or their properties.” according to Met Éireann advice.
“These three warning categories are issued whenever certain weather conditions are expected within a 48-hour window.”
Consider yourself warned.
