Listen; we’ve all made mistakes after a night out.
This time however, one Barrack Street bar has a very clear picture of a passer-by who made off with the street sign pointing towards their beer garden.
Tom Barry’s have asked their Facebook fans to help alert the thief, captured on CCTV removing the fairy light-strewn sign from the pole outside the pub, that they have been rumbled.
The video clip, shared by the bar on Facebook, shows three people, two women and one man, looking at the sign before the man hands his bag to his friend and makes an attempt to reach for it.
Seconds later, the man can be seen pulling the sign from the pole as his friend runs away. The group leave the scene giggling, heading up Barrack Street.
The bar staff have very generously assured all customers and the guilty party that once the sign is returned, that will be the end of the matter:
“Seeing as it’s coming up to Christmas and we are trying to get in the Christmas spirit, we would very much appreciate it if our beer garden sign was returned. No further action will be taken if it turns up.” they said.
Meanwhile, customers were furious that the sign was taken in the first place:
“How can people be so foolish nowadays when anything public can be broadcast on social media. Particularly on a commercial premises where there is at least one security camera.” posted Una Kennelly.
There was plenty of glee at the clarity of the video too: “I love when people are nabbed like this.” said Alessio Bagattin.
The team at Pat Dennehy Signs very kindly offered to supply the pub with a new sign: “Fingers crossed it’s returned to ye soon guys- if not, give us a holler and we’ll look after ye.”
