Shock as building on Mitchelstown Main Street partially collapses

It’s a miracle that nobody was injured.
Cork County Council is currently managing the site of the partial building collapse that saw heavy debris fall from the second story of a building onto Main Street in Mitchelstown.
According to the official Cork County Council social media accounts, a specialist engineer has since attended the scene in order to advise the council how to proceed. Luckily, nobody was hurt as a result of a collapse, and photos from the scene suggest that the outcome of the collapse could have been much worse than it ended up being.
“Emergency Services and Council staff are currently responding to a partial building collapse on Main Street Mitchelstown. No injuries have been reported.
“Traffic restrictions remain in place while the building is being further assessed. Please avoid the area.”
A tweet from late last evening has confirmed that specialist advice is being sought on how to proceed.
“We have requested the attendance of a specialist structural engineer on site to assess & advise on the partial building collapse on Main Street, Mitchelstown. They are currently attending on site & engaging with emergency personnel to ensure public safety is safeguarded.”
