Seven Cork parking spaces are about to be transformed into mini parks

This could vastly improve your lunch break.
A handful of city centre parking spots will receive a rather fabulous makeover later this month, with locals invited to kick back and enjoy the pop-up green spaces.
PARKing Day, an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform parking spaces into temporary public parks, will take place in Cork on Friday, September 21st.
The initiative, part of European Mobility Week, will see seven individual projects on South Mall, McCurtain St, Western Road, Douglas St. transformed into parklets for the day.
Studies show that cities with the most liveable streets are rated as the best cities to live and do business in. Good quality public spaces also make people healthier and happier.
Our plan? We’ll be grabbing a coffee to go on September 21st and strolling across town to check out each mini park.
