Pregnant? Take this soothing Active Birth workshop over lunch and lots of tea

There’s a lot to learn on the pregnancy journey.
And if you’re overwhelmed and seeking some support and answers before welcoming a new addition, an upcoming workshop could be just what you need to approach your birth with confidence.
Rosie, from The Yoga Nook has teamed up with Noreen Healy, an evidence-based holistic midwife, who has years of experience setting up and practicing in active birth and waterbirth, maternity services, and birthing centres.
This immersion into birth and postpartum preparation will be held in the geodesic dome in Carrigadrohid, between Ballincollig and Macroom on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023.

Guests will get the chance to learn all about labour, birth, and early parenting, and crucially, also practice embodying techniques to try throughout the birthing process. The day includes a yoga practice for labour, breathing techniques, restorative prenatal, and hypnobirthing practice.
Everyone will leave with hypnobirthing recordings and an information pack that allows the day to integrate into the weeks leading up to birth.
“The way a baby is born and comes into the world, has an impact on so much of their development — from their nervous system, neural development, microbiome, motor skills, sensory integration ability, breathing, circulation and more,” Rosie told Yay Cork.
“I meet many mothers who wish they had this knowledge prior to birth. And that’s why Noreen and I have created this workshop — so fewer mothers have to say “I wish” and instead are equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and support going into birth.”
As Noreen Healy adds, “The most essential thing you take with you on the day you birth is your strength and self-confidence, knowing you are capable. With increasing medicalisation of pregnancy and childbirth, “too little too late, too much too soon”, I believe women need to take back their autonomy, through robust education and an understanding of normal birth processes; the influence of environment, mind-body connection and, when necessary, when medical intervention is required.”
A tasty vegan lunch will be provided and there will be plenty of time to connect with fellow mothers-to-be over cups of tea.
This workshop is suitable for pregnant women from 20 weeks and takes place at The Yoga Nook, Carrigarohid, P12 A324 on 3rd December (10 am – 4 pm) – tickets are €140 here.
