Marina Market has some big plans.
The property company behind Cork’s Marina Market is seeking to expand the location, according to a planning application submitted to Cork City Council last week.
City council records show that an application was made by CPR Properties Cork on January 18th, seeking permission to convert the former site of the Southern Fruits Distribution Company Warehouse into more space for the market and emporium. A decision is expected to be made by the council by March 14th.
The application states that the company is seeking permission to change the warehouse distribution space into further market floor space, a health/lifestyle store and a function/gallery space. Additionally, a mezzanine is to be constructed in order to provide more seating for the food emporium.
A former pumping station on-site is slated to be converted into a coffee roasterie.
Nine car parking spots will be done away with (leaving a total of 60) in order to facilitate space for over 40 bike parking spaces. Parklets and bike rental spaces are also included in the plans, which can be found here. Submissions regarding the plans are open until February 21st.
