Cork’s only dedicated ‘80s and ‘90s bar is taking customers right back to the best musical eras on Friday, January 24th by offering pints for the retro price of one Irish punt.
Withdrawn from circulation in favour of the Euro way back in 2002, anyone with a pocketful of Irish pound coins can rock up to the bar on the night of Popscene’s launch party and exchange them for tasty beverages to fuel your shenanigans on the dancefloor.
More fun than exchanging them at the Central Bank, right?
There’s only one rule: you must use your punts in Popscene between 8pm and 11pm on Friday, January 24th, 2020. A little birdie told us that staff may be handing out some of the old currency too so keep your eyes peeled for a freebie.
Located on the ground floor of the Voodoo Rooms complex on Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork City, Popscene has been doing a roaring trade since it launched before Christmas, with hoards of hens travelling from all over the country to get down in the Top of the Pops-themed club every Friday and Saturday night (8pm ‘til late).
The cocktail list includes a Papa Don’t Peach, an MC Hammered, a Carrie Bradshaw and a Fat Frog Fishbowl and there are even private karaoke pods where you can blast out your favourite hits with your mates or colleagues without making a show of yourself.
