It’s the home of traditional music in Cork.
And now, lockdown be damned, The Corner House is bringing a live trad session into the homes of music-starved fans all over the world this Friday, April 2nd, 2021 as part of a collaboration between The Everyman and Islander.
Kicking off at 8pm, Behind The Curtain will treat audiences to a series of live-streamed Friday night sessions celebrating the unique atmosphere of Cork. The first session comes directly from The Corner House on Coburg Street, bringing together some of the city’s finest traditional musicians.
Hosted by Blaithín Mac Gabhann, guests are invited to sit back and enjoy the musical mastery of Eoin Ó Riabhaigh (pipes); Con Fada Ó Drisceoil (box/voice); Pat ‘Herring’ Ahern (guitar/bouzouki) and Johnny McCarthy (fiddle/flute/voice).
The best bit? The inaugural Behind the Curtain Friday night session is free but booking is essential (you can book your spot here).
“All that we ask is please donate what you decide when you book your free ticket. All donations from The Corner House Session will go directly towards employing local musicians and artists to develop and present new performances.” said a spokesperson for the event.
Sounds like music to our ears.
