What did you get up to during the lockdown?
Whether you were knee-deep in Normal People or up to your elbows in sourdough starter, chances are you weren’t as industrious as Cork wedding planner extraordinaire Peter Kelly.
While the past few months have been quiet for many in the wedding industry, Peter kept busy by building an outrageously fabulous ‘summer shack’ at the end of his garden at home.
And when he says ‘summer shack’, he means gloriously extravagant luxury hideaway fit for royalty…
“During this lockdown, I built a Cayman Island summer shack at the bottom of my garden with my daughter Jessie Mai!” Peter told his fans on Facebook.
“A little oasis to read a book have a cocktail, paint or take a zoom call.”
We’d happily live in it permanently, to be honest.
The dad and daughter team repurposed an old chest of drawers into a bar and coffee table, festooned the interior walls with greenery and art and furnished the cosy pad with sumptuous velvet furniture and sheepskin blankets. Outside they hung fairy lights so the space can be enjoyed after dark.
“The best part of it is the memories of building it with my daughter,” added Peter. “Showing her how to create something out of things that others may have thrown away. We have to look for positives right now.”
When do we move in?
