Met Éireann says temperatures are likely to drop as low as -2 later this week

The daffodils might be out but it’s still technically winter.
And this week Mother Nature is planning on reminding us exactly what that’s supposed to feel like, as the mild weather of late is replaced with chilly conditions more suited to February.
According to Met Éireann, Monday and Tuesday will be relatively mild at between nine and 11 degrees, albeit peppered with rain and drizzle, but the weather is set to turn colder in the coming days.
The big chill will move in on Tuesday night with lowest temperatures of between two and six degrees.
We can expect sunshine and scattered showers on Wednesday, some wintry, and highest afternoon temperatures of four to eight degrees “but feeling cold in a westerly breeze” before a cold dry night.
“Frost and ice too, especially for sheltered areas overnight with lows of -2 to 2 degrees.” said a forecaster.
By Thursday there will be plenty of bright and sunny spells across the country, but temperatures won’t budge above eight degrees and it will be cold overnight “with lows of -2 to 1 degrees with frost and ice expected”.
