Meet Ollie, the shelter dog that nobody wants to adopt

He’s been patiently waiting for his forever home.
Yet, as Ollie’s new friends at the Dog Action Welfare shelter all say goodbye and start new lives with their new humans, this shepherd/ lurcher mix has received absolutely no interest from anybody open to adopting him and shelter staff can’t figure out why.
Just ten months old, Ollie wasn’t given the training and attention he required as a puppy, so when he was rescued he was confused and hated being alone. Like most abandoned animals, he craved love and attention.
With a little gentle encouragement from the DAWG team of volunteers however, Ollie is now crate trained and almost fully housetrained, yet months later, he still hasn’t found a new home.
“He is such a clever boy with zero aggression.” says a DAWG spokesperson.
“Ollie is slow to trust new people and dogs but once he knows his place and surroundings all he wants to do is play and please the dogs and humans around him. There is absolutely no badness in him.”
He loves walks and running free so a home with plenty of space will be essential, but once he’s had his exercise he enjoys curling up on the couch for a movie and some rubs.
He’d be excellent company for somebody with the time to get to know him and a loyal friend for life.
“Ollie needs a home where his owners will be patient with him and continue to teach him new commands and skills so he can continue to mature and learn,” say DAWG, who recommend he would be happiest in a home where any children in the family are over ten-years-old.
He would be happy as an only dog but would also love another playful companion, so if you have room in your life for Ollie, get in touch with DAWG via the links below.
