Louise O’Neill has launched a Substack (and she’s donating this month’s subscription)

Squirelling away your winter reading?
Clonakilty wordsmith, Louise O’Neill is luring readers into the captivating depths of her mind via a new Substack account.
Renowned for her acclaimed works, Only Ever Yours and Asking For It, Louise is charting new waters with Savage Hunger.
This Substack page is where Louise plans to dissect a smorgasbord of tantalising topics, including addiction, pop culture, relationships, betrayal, body image, food, therapy, healing, feminism, ambition, creativity, writing, and art.
In her signature style, Louise spills the beans on 2023 – a year of shedding baggage, embracing self-compassion, and putting the brakes on the hustle.
In her own words, “I’ve spent this year trying to figure out what it is that I need rather than what I want. With my Substack, I have been looking for a smaller, safer space to share my work but maybe I’ve been looking for something softer too. Maybe that’s what I’ve always needed, in the end.”

The name Savage Hunger is a glimpse into Louise’s world, a world where she candidly explores the hungry soul within her. It’s a title that speaks to her experiences with addiction and an insatiable desire that goes beyond the plate.
Free subscribers get treated to a monthly essay and a roundup of book recommendations. But for the cool €5 monthly crew, it’s a weekly essay bonanza, a monthly Q&A where no topic is off-limits, and, of course, more bookish goodness.
All funds raised in subscriptions in November will go straight to Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
