Local illustrator Ciara Chapman is bringing her wonderful work to St Peter’s

It’s not easy having an invisible illness.
But local digital artist Ciara Chapman has channeled her experiences with chronic pain into an art exhibition, set to open next week in the atmospheric setting of St Peter’s on North Main Street.
‘Alice and Me’ explores the connection between the artist’s project My Chronic Pain Diary and the story of Alice in Wonderland.
Chapman, who lives in Turners Cross, has been dealing with chronic pain since she suffered a fall down the stairs at home seven years ago. Inspired by the two pet rabbits she shares with her husband, David, her mesmerising diary now has over 100 illustrations, each capturing a moment in time in her journey.

“Ciara uses delicate lines and a bright colour palette to balance out the weighty themes of her work-namely the struggle of having an ‘invisible illness’, which can sow seeds of doubt in people’s mind, and can be a very lonely and isolating experience.” says artist Clare Hartigan of the work.
“The most important thing to take away from ‘My Chronic Pain Diary’ is whether you are experiencing physical, mental or emotional pain, you are not alone.”
You can see Alice and Me in full at St Peter’s on North Main Street from February 15th, 2022 to March 1st, 2022.
