Living in Oz? Soon you’ll be able to get Ballymaloe Relish in Aussie supermarkets

There’s nothing like a taste of home when you’re living abroad.
Now Irish expats in Australia will be able to grab a jar of Ballymaloe Relish at the supermarket after the Cork company signed a deal with Australian retail giants Coles.
With sales of €6 million last year, relish sales are already up 10% at Ballymaloe Foods and the future is looking very tasty indeed.
The company is run by Maxine Hyde, daughter of Yasmin Hyde, who established the brand 30 years ago based on a recipe developed at her mother, Myrtle Allen’s hotel and restaurant at Ballymaloe in the 1960s.
Now, with 33 staff, 14 products and exports into Germany, the Netherlands, and the US, the Little Island-based company start supplying 120 Coles Supermarkets across Australia at the end of May and management are hoping Ballymaloe Relish will prove a popular accompaniment to the nation’s famous barbecues.
With over 100,000 employees, Coles is a national full-service supermarket retailer operating more than 800 supermarkets across Australia.
“We hope we can bring a taste of home to the thousands of Irish people living in Australia.” said Marketing Manager of Ballymaloe Foods, Gary Hanrahan.
“This unprecedented time has led us to take a step back and appreciate the things around us, like family, friends, nature and good food. Now is the time to cherish those food moments. From sausages to succulent chicken breasts, through to veggie burgers, Ballymaloe Relish is the perfect accompaniment to any BBQ.”
