Little Ann Street is getting a little makeover (with a new covered beer garden for Costigans)

We’re finally getting the weather for it.
After the success of outdoor dining in Cork City over the last few years, there are several establishments that have made their street presence a permanent fixture.
Now Costigan’s Pub, which recently claimed the number one spot on Tripadvisor’s list of Best Bars and Clubs in Cork, will soon have its very own all-weather outdoor area on Little Ann Street.
The council-approved steel-frame awning is going up next to the popular Cork bar, and it promises to be a super cosy experience for punters.
“We’ll be decorating the space and the idea is to have the same feel outside as you have inside to keep the sense that you are in a traditional Irish pub.” assistant manager Brian McCarthy told us.
The plan will include new furniture, posters and a temporary wall that will offer customers some privacy when out socialising. The fixture is also fully removable, in case of emergencies.
Work on the awning is set to be completed over the next few days, and further embellishments will start appearing soon after.
We’re looking forward to seeing the finished product and enjoying a pint in the sunshine.
