Scream, Shout, Let It All Out.
A group of women will be gathering in West Cork to scream their hearts out at the sea later this month.
The liberating experience will be happening at Garrylucas Beach near Kinsale, with this ‘scream group’ part of a global trend, offering a unique outlet for women to let off some steam.
Holistic practitioner Ciara McDonnell, the brains behind this local Scream Club, has curated an experience where ladies can embrace the therapeutic power of a collective scream.
It’s about unleashing all frustrations — like residual pandemic exhaustion, concern about global clashes, and stress about the everyday pressures of life.
The Garrylucas experience will be on a Saturday morning at sunrise around a beachside fire.
The group will set their intention with a guided meditation before walking to the sea and together, releasing all of their unspoken emotions to the water. After this cathartic experience, it’s back to the fire for a cup of tea and a sweet treat — because what’s a Scream Club without a little post-scream indulgence?
Ciara outlined that the concept of Scream Club came from personal experience.
“For years and years, I have been going to the beach before sunrise and shouting out all of my frustrations at the sea.” she says.
The nature of the ocean is that she takes away our negative emotions, allowing us to release with ease. While it may have seemed mad to passers-by — a forty-something-year-old woman screaming her head off at the sea — it was one of the most transformative practices I have ever utilised,” she said.
Each month, Scream Club will unveil a different theme, and for this month, it’s all about “Letting Go.”
