Learn the art of upcycling at a free weekend workshop

Eager to get stuck into a ‘back to school’ project?
September is the perfect time of year to try out a new hobby or learn a skill you always wished you had.
‘Upcycling’ – the art of turning old, battered furniture into brand new usable pieces – is one of those hobbies that gives back, providing gorgeous new items for your home in exchange for a little elbow grease and commitment.
The key is to learn the basics from an expert.
Sue Gifford, one of Ireland’s finest artists and surface decorators, will be in Cork on Saturday, September 1st to give a free one-hour talk on upcycling at the Cork Craft Show.
Sue will be showing her audience how to make the most of their beloved inherited pieces, from prepping the wood to choosing the right paint and creating a customised piece of art.
Wannabe upcyclers will have a chance to try out different paints and techniques with Sue’s direction – just the help you need to take on your own upcycling project.
The talk is free to attend inside Cork Craft Show at Cork International Hotel. A general admission ticket is €5 here and there are loads of interactive workshops and events planned on the day.
