Ireland’s cleanest town is in Cork

Fermoy is officially the cleanest town in Ireland.
An annual survey by national trust An Taisce put the River Blackwater village, best known for its landmark bridge, at number one in a list of 13 of the cleanest places to live.
Waterford scooped the honour of cleanest city.
Fermoy, which has a population of around 6,500, was the only Cork town to feature on the list, with Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) spokesperson Conor Horgan pointing out that there is plenty of work to be done in cleaning up our urban landscape.
Cork’s Northside and Mahon joined Ballymun in Dublin, Dublin’s North Inner City and Ballybane in Galway on the list of ‘seriously littered’ spots.
