Do something sound: Help spruce up Oliver Plunkett Street this April

Got a few hours to pay it forward?
If you’ve ever strolled down Oliver Plunkett Street and thought “this place could do with a bit of love”—now’s your chance to actually do something about it.
Cork Business Association is calling on Cork’s creatives, coffee heads, and general good-vibes brigade to roll up their sleeves on Tuesday, April 28th for a massive “Cleaning and Greening” day—and yes, there are perks.
Kicking off at 8:30am in The Fountain Bar (with coffee and breakfast to ease you in), volunteers will take on the stretch from Caroline Street down to Grand Parade. Expect everything from power washing and painting to tackling grime and giving the street a proper glow-up—basically, a facelift for one of Cork’s busiest areas.
Local businesses are getting involved too, with coffee stops along the way and a pizza lunch courtesy of Fast Al’s to keep spirits high. Think of it as part community effort, part wholesome day out.
The initiative follows two successful clean-ups last year, where volunteers scrubbed, painted and brightened up parts of the city—proving that a few hours of effort can make a serious difference. With support from Cork City Council and local partners bringing in the heavy-duty gear, this one’s set to be even bigger.
So if you like your city clean, your streets colourful, and your good deeds rewarded with caffeine and carbs, you know what to do.
Businesses and individuals are being encouraged to volunteer and can register here or by emailing info@corkbusiness.ie.
