If you love miniatures, this Doll’s House exhibition will fill you with glee

Who doesn’t love tiny versions of normal-sized stuff?
From an Edwardian brick farmhouse for a family of bears, and a chic Parisian Jewellers, to a Japanese Tea Garden with a pagoda and traditional doll houses with elaborately furnished rooms, one north Cork arts centre has a display that will fill big kids and little kids with delight.
Saint George’s Arts and Heritage Centre in Mitchelstown is hosting Irish Dolls House Grand Designs throughout August.
This miniature world is the work of local woman Margaret Harris, founder of Irish Dolls House Grand Designs in Araglin. Margaret has spent years honing her craft and is now a leading expert in the world of dolls house sales, repair and design service.
Margaret’s daughter Emma Waddell is an entrepreneur and miniature expert, who is based in the UK. She is often credited with being one of the world’s only interior designer for miniature houses and has even featured as a judge on the Canadian reality show Best in Miniature.

“This display is to be seen to be appreciated and after a successful opening weekend, Margaret will be in attendance at Saint George’s over the next few weeks to chat to guests and answer questions.” the Saint George’s team told us.
“There will be a model-making workshop with Margaret this Saturday August 17th at Saint George’s from 2pm-5pm. This will give children the opportunity to explore and create models using household items. This workshop is for ages 7-12 years old. Early booking is advised on 087-4696913.”
Saint George’s will be open this Saturday and Sunday from 2pm-5pm for viewers to drop in and the display remains open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-5pm and Wednesday, 9am-12.30pm.
