If you love fresh, local fish, you’ve gotta try Ocras Seafood & Snax at the Marina Market

By Katie Mythen-Lynch September 24, 2024September 24, 2024

Opening weekend was a sell-out success.

Now the team behind Cork’s newest seafood spot, Ocras Seafood & Snax at The Marina Market, are prepping for an even busier weekend, as word spreads about their delicious Cuoppo Seafood Cones.

Named after the Irish word for hunger, diners are advised to bring an appetite; the menu is a feast of locally caught fish served in imaginative ways.

Owner and head chef at Ocras, Lee Kennedy hails from the UK and has been working in the industry for over three decades, most recently as a head chef in Ireland’s gourmet capital, Kinsale.

“Whilst working in Ireland my passion for seafood grew due to the abundance of fresh produce available to me,” Lee told Yay Cork.

What to eat first

The menu features Ocras Chowder, Oysterhaven Mussels, Seafood Cone packed with calamari, tempura shrimp, panko-crumbed monkfish and sea asparagus.

Other must-tries include the Louisiana-style boneless chicken thighs and crispy fried Korean broccoli.

Ocras opened with a small menu offering over the weekend, with the full menu coming into effect this week.

“We will be running the takeaway option for the first few weeks before then being able to offer a dine-in seated option as you would in a restaurant,” added Lee.

Coffee is by Stone Valley Coffee Roasters too so you can grab a brew to go after you eat.
