Hugh Wallace will be speaking at a free event aimed at reviving Cork’s derelict homes

There are few things sadder than an unloved vacant house.
But here in Cork, almost every neighbourhood has a derelict property that sits crumbling while the housing crisis worsens.
Now Cork City Council is hosting an event where the public can find out more about what can be done to repair and restore these vacant properties and get them back on the market for buyers and renters.
‘Bringing Back Homes’ will feature talks by Hugh Wallace (Architect & TV Presenter); The Great House Revival’s Siobhan O’Mahony; industry experts; Cork City Council, and more.
Attendees will then have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with staff from the SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) and Cork City Council on Retrofitting, Conservation, Housing, Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant, and Repair & Lease.
The event will take place on Thursday, September 25th between 10:15am-12:30pm in The Metropole Hotel, MacCurtain Street, Cork.
It’s free to go along but tickets must be booked in advance here.
