And with the first Cork store about to open in Youghal on Thursday, November 14th, you’ll be hearing a lot more about JYSK.

The Danish-born brand is planning to open up to six outlets in various locations around the city and county in the coming two years.

The first JYSK store on Leeside opens on Thursday, November 14th, when Corkonians will be able to shop the global homewares brand in the former LIDL building at 5 Mill Road, Greencloyne, Youghal from 9am.

Speaking in Cork at a media briefing in the Montenotte Hotel this afternoon, Roni Tuominen, Head of Retail at JYSK Ireland, and Jenny Johnston, Sales and Marketing Manager revealed that JYSK is currently scouting a number of locations in Cork, with Blackpool, Cobh and Douglas among the potential sites under consideration.

Bringing 12 new jobs to the area, the JYSK store in Youghal will be managed by Katie Lipien, who has recently moved to the town herself.

“We know that the area has a very busy rental and building market, so it’s the perfect time for a global homewares brand to open their first store in Youghal.” said Katie.

Major bargains for early birds

When it comes to opening week bargains, the early bird get the worm; a selection of limited special offers will be hitting letterboxes all over Cork next week inside the JYSK catalogue, with a number of enticing ‘first come, first served’ deals planned for the opening day on November 14th.

The Christmas catalogue will be arriving the following week, when you can fill your basket with Scandinavian style festive goodies, decorations and homeware.
