Here’s what people are saying about Maeve Higgins’ new book

It won’t hit shelves until this summer, but comedians who’ve had a sneak peek are already raving about Maeve Higgins’ new book.
The Cobh native, now happily living in New York City, has made her voice a familiar one in the States, where she cohosts Neil deGrasse Tyson’s StarTalk on National Geographic and has appeared on Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer as well as writing for the New York Times.
Her hit podcast Maeve In America: Immigration IRL is helping to change the conversation around immigration and the companion book, Maeve In America: Essays By A Girl From Somewhere Else, a ‘timely essay collection about life, love, and becoming an American’, will be released on August 7th, 2018.

Fans can expect stories of not being able to afford a dress for the ball, ‘of learning to live with yourself while you’re still figuring out how to love yourself, of the true significance of realising what sort of shelter dog you would be.’
Self-aware and laugh-out-loud funny, the collection is also a fearless exploration of the awkward questions in life, such as: Is clapping too loudly at a gig a good enough reason to break up with somebody? Is it ever really possible to leave home?’
According to publishers Penguin Randomhouse, Maeve in America is essentially the story of how Maeve found herself, literally and figuratively, in the Big Apple.
And the Cork comedian Amy Schumer has dubbed ‘the true Irish voice of our American generation’ is getting plenty of praise from her mates in the funny business…
Maeve combines three of the rarest qualities in a writer: She’s funny, smart and really good at Instagram stories. Buy this book! https://t.co/BacrfAhqoK
