Here’s a list of stuff that was fixed at Cork’s first Repair Café

The first event was a huge success.
Now Cork’s Repair Café has shared a few of the items that were given a new lease of life at the first meet-up in Blackpool, with another date already planned on April 2nd, 2020.
“We had wonderful conversations, sharing stories and ideas of how to fix this or that, or what to do with this or that!” said a Repair Café member.
Word has it that Councillor Dan Boyle showed up and helped repair some shoes and everyone enjoyed chats, tea and biscuits while the repair work was underway.
Sounds like a fun evening.
The list of items repaired at the first meet-up included:
- 3 sweaters
- 2 bikes
- 1 watch
- 3 pairs of shoes (two soles and one boot zipper)
- 1 coffee mug handle
- 1 redesign on a hair clip
- 1 retractable dog lead
- 1 mug warmer made from a tin of pineapple
Hosted by Cork Community Art Link, the Bruscar Crow ‘common sense living’ newsletter and Cork Community Bikes, the event offers a regular space where anyone can find out how to repair items such as clothing, shoes, bikes, furniture and electrical goods so they can be reused instead of ending up in the landfill.
Got something you’d like to fix and use again? The next Repair Cafe will take place on be April 2nd, 5:30pm-8:30pm at the Lido, 71 Watercourse Road, Blackpool. Check out the Facebook page for further updates.
