Here’s a handy illustrated map of Cork’s best charity shops and thrift stores

There’s nothing as satisfying as an incredible charity shop find.
In order to dig out a bargain however, you need a primer on where Cork’s best second-hand and vintage shops are located.
Now the members of the University College Cork Green Campus group have put together a handy, free guide to help you navigate a sustainable shopping trip on Leeside.
The easy-to-follow map includes top-notch stops such as the Records and Relics thrift shop on Washington Street and Mother Jones Flea Market just off MacCurtain Street – a super handy reference, especially if you’re new in town.
There are six charity shops including an Oxfam, a Barnardos, and an Enable Ireland shop on North Main Street, and three more on Oliver Plunkett Street – plenty of solid options for a treasure hunt.

We would add Nine Crows Cork, newly opened on French Church Street, to the list too.
As well as adding to the vast volume of textile trash that ends up in landfills and incinerators every year (225,000 tonnes of clothing annually in Ireland, according to Oxfam) fast fashion also contributes to water waste; dyeing fabric is responsible for 20% of the world’s water pollution.
Keep a photo of the map on your phone, then it’ll be at your fingertips the next time you’re in town on the hunt for a bargain.
