Here’s a chance to share your views on where new trees should be planted in Cork

It’s a topic that sparks some heated discussions online.
But if you’d like to make sure your views on tree planting and retention in Cork are heard for real, Cork City Council is inviting the public to get involved.
“We are asking the public to provide feedback on our Draft Tree Strategy.” a City Council spokesperson posted on Instagram.
“The Draft Tree Strategy provides baseline data related to existing trees in the city, and it sets out 13 internal policies and 33 actions that Cork City Council intends to carry out over the next five years relating to public tree management, retaining existing trees, and planting new trees.
“The strategy recognises the importance of collaboration and working together as a community to plant, care for, and manage trees in our city.”

The last day for submissions is Friday, February 16th, 2024 and you can make suggestions for general locations throughout the city here.
More useful than shouting them into the ether on Facebook, right?
Cork City Council will review all submissions and revise the Draft Tree Strategy as appropriate. The Tree Strategy will then be submitted to the Elected Members (full Council) for consideration, likely in April 2024.
