Ready for a bit of a browse?
Whether you’re on the hunt for the perfect gift or you’re simply looking forward to a frosty stroll and a mug of something mulled, there’s loads happening in Cork this weekend.
City folk can head for Douglas Street, where Nano Nagle Place is abuzz with festive fun. If you’re planning a spin, you can head for Mallow or Timoleague, where stallholders will be setting up for a wonderful weekend of Christmas cheer.
Here are three events to check out:
1. Caitlin Ruth at The Yard
Set in the home of Neighbourfood Timoleague in Aghafore, The Yard is a repurposed farmyard where you’ll find a large multi purpose shed stuffed with arts, crafts, plants and plenty of festive cheer.
Now there’s another reason to take a spin down; chef Caitlin Ruth is holding a pop-up at The Yard on Saturday, December 12th and Saturday, December 19th, 2020. Menus will be posted on Instagram and you can also expect mulled drinks to warm your hands while you browse the stalls.
The Yard is open from 1pm to 5pm and you get directions and updates via their Facebook feed.
2. Spend a Sunday at Nano Nagle Place
Stevie G will be providing the tunes at the Producers Market in Nano Nagle Place on Douglas Street this Sunday from 10am until 4pm.
Stallholders include Suds Johnson, Hurrah Hurrah, The Lantern Project Cork, Saoirse- Ethnic Hands On Deck, Good Day Deli, Rehoming Cork Pets, CRIA handmade art, mellowcotton and Badly Made Books.
Buy a book in the bookshop and you get free entry to the ‘Small Lives: at Home in Cork in 1920’ exhibition.
3. A choice of shopping spots in Mallow
There are no less than three festive markets running in Mallow this weekend; check out the arts and crafts in the Town Hall and West End Art Studios from 11am-5.30pm on Saturday. Studio Fit will also open their doors from 3pm- 5.30pm on Saturday, showcasing more local businesses.
