Is there anything more enticing than an entire weekend of eating?
Actually there is; an upcoming gourmet getaway in the wilds of West Cork will send you home with all the tricks and tips you need to recreate every dish yourself.
One of West Cork’s greatest chefs, Caitlin Ruth of Deasy’s Harbour Bar and Seafood Restaurant, is hosting an exclusive West Cork Gourmet Escape at the beautifully restored 18th Century Dunworley Cottages, near Clonakilty this September.
The venue is the home of Gilly and Richard Murphy, who grow over 100 varieties of incredible produce from their working organic garden overlooking the Atlantic Ocean at Dunworley Beach.
The couple will be opening their doors to an intimate group of guests from September 27th – 30th, 2019.
Spend four days cloistered from every day distractions as you immerse yourself into the world of West Cork Food.
Gilly, Richard and Caitlin will be guiding the group to some of their best loved, sometimes secret, locations for sourcing the freshest and best ingredients.
You can expect to meet Denis, the local lobster and crab fisherman, and collect his catch of the day for your dinner that night, and take in the Wild Atlantic scenery on walks along the Seven Heads Peninsula.
Back at Dunworley Cottage, Caitlin will lead several culinary workshops demonstrating liqueurs and preserves with ingredients picked from the organic garden.
Later, you’ll learn how to make cocktails and how to cook fresh lobster from pots pulled earlier in the day; forage and learn to identify and pick coastal vegetables, bake bread, preserve foods and dine on exquisite long-table dinners paired with natural wines.
With just 10 places available, the Dunworley Cottage West Cork Gourmet Escape is not cheap (it’s €890 for single occupancy or €750 per person sharing) but it does buy you an all-inclusive weekend, including three breakfasts, two gourmet lunches, three gourmet dinners, cocktails, wine, bread making, cooking and cocktail making demos with renowned chef Caitlin Ruth, stunning walks and beautiful accommodation.
