GE2020: If you don’t know who to vote for, this lunchtime event could help

It’s your right to vote.
If all the campaign promises and letterbox leaflets have left you more confused than ever about who to back in the General Election on Saturday, February 8th, 20202 however, this could help.
With one in three voters still undecided on who they will vote for, Cork Votes, a group set up to increase voter turnout and participation, will be holding a General Election Information Event in Cork on Tuesday, February 4th, 2020.
The event will run from 12pm-2pm outside the Library on Grand Parade.
“In recent weeks thousands of people have registered to vote with Cork City and County Councils.” said Padraig Rice, Cork Votes volunteer.

“We want to provide people with all of the information they might need to vote correctly – thus preventing unintentional spoilt ballots. We want to also dispel some myths that prevent some from voting.
“We will have a full list of all the candidates running in Cork, 10 practical tips for first-time voters and people on hand to answer any questions people might have.”
Cork Votes is currently running a series called Voting Myths Busted on Twitter, with daily posts offering corrections to much of the fake news and misunderstandings around voting.
This week we will be running a Voting Myths Busted series based on conversations we have had with newly registered voters over the past few weeks. Myth one is about polling cards and what to do if you don’t get one in the post #GE2020 #CorkVotes pic.twitter.com/kk0CabbBh1
