These fresh Deirdre Breen prints will make your walls happy

By Katie Mythen-Lynch February 15, 2018July 18, 2018

This is the time of year to throw everything out and start again.

Traditionally it’s called a spring clean, but it’s more than that.

It’s not just about rearranging your sock drawer and dropping off a bag of pastel Penneys skinny jeans at the St Vincent de Paul.

It’s a time to empty your brain and your home of all the cloying feelings and attachments associated with the stuff we surround ourselves with.

A perfect start in our book would be ripping down all the dusty frames and prints that have been lurking on your largest wall. Slosh on a new colour that makes you smile, then add a print you frikkin’ love looking at.

Might we suggest the work of Cork artist Deirdre Breen.

After four years in London, Deirdre now works for Chapter in Midleton and is a practicing artist and member of Damn Fine Print as well as Cork Printmakers.

Her latest pieces are an exploration of shape and form through adventures in colour, geometry and repetition.
