Free on Sunday? Twig Refill is holding a tree planting party

Fancy some feel-good fun in the fresh air?
Twig Refill is planting 1000 native Irish trees in the beautiful Manch Estate Woodland in Ballineen this Sunday, February 3rd and everyone’s welcome to help them make it happen.
Located at The Olive Branch on Spiller’s Lane, the shop offers a delicious array of snacks, chocolate, fresh organic fruit and vegetables, with one important difference: the walls are covered in huge vats and drums of household necessities, from food to cleaning products.
Using your own containers, glass jars or a cotton bag, you can weigh out exactly how much of each item you need, weigh it and pay for it at the counter – no plastic necessary.
As part of their Trees on the Land project, the Clonakilty zero-waste shop will be getting stuck in to some serious tree planting at 11am.
Trees, spades and expert guidance will be provided so volunteers just need to wear wellies, wrap up warm and bring a change of clothes in case it rains on the day.
Kids are welcome too so it’s a fun excuse to escape to the countryside with the family for day.
Hot mugs of tea, coffee and vegan soup will be handed out to helpers to ward off the chilly weather but do pack a hearty lunch for yourself – planting is hungry work.
