Some people are born to throw a party.

For the rest of us, the mere idea of having the entire gang over for drinks or hosting the extended family for Christmas lunch is enough to bring us out in hives.

Now two consummate Cork party-throwers are joining forces to show us how it’s done – and they’ll be sharing all their insider tips and tricks while their audience has a grand old time.

Well-known make-up artist and Today Show contributor Siobhán O’Mahony and chef Caitlin Ruth will be bringing their party night Host to De Barras, Clonakilty on December 9th, 2022.

Kicking off at 7pm, guests will find out how to make some festive cocktails (and drink them), how to put together a grazing board (and devour one), how to choose the perfect wine to serve at your bash and how to decorate your home with minimal fuss and maximum impact.

Having always enjoyed hosting people in her home, Siobhán only recently realised that some people find it a total chore.

“The aim is to get people comfortable with welcoming loved ones, and more importantly for you, as the host, to enjoy it,” she told us.

Caitlin, one of the most talented people in the food industry, came on board with Siobhan to cater the food and drinks side of the event, focusing on easy ideas for people to recreate in their own kitchens.

As well as hosting hacks, some special guests will offer even more tips on home entertaining, including Fionnuala Harkin from Wines Direct, Jean Sweetnam, of O’ Farrell’s in Bandon, and a number of local boutiques with outfit inspiration for Christmas parties and Christmas Day.

Siobhán will also have some ideas to get you beautified quickly so you will feel both comfortable and confident hosting at home.
