It’s a classic summer treat in the US.

But if you’ve never had the pleasure of biting into a freshly fried corn dog, now you can try the classic American dish right here on Leeside.

New business Shloppy Dog has pulled up its distinctive cherry red trailer at The Marina Market in Ballintemple, with a small but mighty menu of corn dogs to choose from, as well as a selection of tasty sauces for slathering on them.

In case you’re unfamiliar, a corn dog is a skewered sausage dipped in a thick cornmeal batter and deep-fried to crispy perfection. They’re commonly served at state fairs and baseball games across the USA.

This weekend the crew is serving up a soft opening special; €5 corn dogs with your choice of ketchup or curry ketchup, southwest sauce, gooey cheese sauce, spicy house Schloppy BBQ, garlic and scallion mayo or a decadent blue cheese and buffalo.

Swing by Shloppy Dog at the Marins Market from Thursday, June 8th to try one for yourself. It was card only for the first day (as per the sign in the picture above) but they are now accepting cash and card.
