Expressway has announced fare hikes of up to €2.50 on all Cork bus routes

Another day, another price hike.
Expressway, Ireland’s largest coach network, has announced changes to its fares effective immediately, blaming “the impact of rising costs on the business” for its first fare review since 2018.
The changes mean that passengers travelling to/from Cork will see the following fare changes:
- Route 40 to Waterford: The adult single fare will see no change (€15) while the return fare will increase by €2.50 to €22.50.
- Route 40 to Tralee: The adult single fare will increase by €1.50 to €22.50 while the return fare will increase by €2 to €32.
- Route 51 to Limerick: The adult single fare will increase by €1 to €17 while the return fare will increase by 50c to €26.50.
- Route 51 to Galway: The adult single fare will increase by €1 to €21 while the return fare will increase by €2 to €34.
- Day return tickets will end on all routes.
There is a way to keep at least some of the extra cash in your pocket; customers booking online will benefit from a new five-percent discount.
“Young people registered with a Young Adult or Student Leap Card will only pay 50% of the standard fare, while free travel pass holders continue to travel free of charge.” said a spokesperson for the service, which is operated by Bus Éireann.
