Cork’s newest music venue is about to open in a renovated seaside church

This is going to be something special.
Coughlan’s Live Promotions has revealed it will be creating the programme for Sea Church, a brand new restaurant and music venue set to open in February 2020 in the seaside village of Ballycotton.
The latest venture of local entrepreneur Pearse Flynn, who purchased St Colman’s Church from American vendors in 2018, Sea Church will invite some of Ireland’s musical heavyweights as well as artists from all over the world to play the 120-capacity venue, kicking off with Lisa Hannigan on Saturday, February 29th, 2020.
With top notch acoustics, a high-end audio system, full in-house DJ equipment, a large outdoor terrace and a full bar, Sea Church will also be available for private events and ceremonies.
Because the building is a protected structure, the multi-million euro restoration took two years to complete, with original features such as the pointed arch stained-glass windows, the slate roof, wrought-iron gates and oak panels painstakingly preserved.
The bell tower has also been repaired and the church’s timber staircase has been restored to its original specification.
You can check out a video of the restoration process on the Sea Church Facebook page here. Coughlan’s Live will be announcing more acts set to play the venue in the coming weeks, with tickets available here.
