Cork’s New Year’s forecast is here with thunder and hail to kick off 2023

Met Éireann is warning that the weather will slowly worsen in Cork throughout today, New Year’s Eve, with a chilly day complete with thunder and hail to kick off 2023 on Sunday.
It will be cloudy this morning with patchy rain or drizzle dying out, but the rain will pick up again later.
“It will become mostly dry for a time, but further outbreaks of rain will develop this afternoon, pushing gradually northwards over the province.” said a forecaster.

Some heavy falls are expected with the potential for hail and lightning. Highest temperatures will range between 6 to 9 degrees.
New Year’s Eve
It looks set to be mostly cloudy on New Year’s Eve night with showery outbreaks of rain along with the continued possibility for hail and thunder. Temperatures will range between 3 and 6 degrees.
New Year’s Day
Forecasters are predicting “a rather chilly day on New Year’s Day with sunny spells and showers, some heavy with hail and thunder possible.”
Highest temperatures will range between 4 and 8 degrees in moderate west or northwest breezes.
