Cork’s Dr Doireann is giving away two designer bags for CUH Children’s Operating Theatre

Here’s a lovely way to pay it forward during Christmas week.

Cork GP, Instagram doctor and health podcaster Dr Doireann O’Leary has launched a huge giveaway on her Instagram page and it’s all in aid of a very worthy local charity.

Fans are invited to donate €10 to a special KareFund campaign to support the main Munster paediatric unit at Cork University Hospital, for a chance to win a selection of glamorous prizes, including Marc Jacobs bags, hotel stays and jewellery.

More than €5,000 of the €10,000 target has already been raised.

“Having worked in the CUH for six years and specifically in the paediatric unit, this cause is so dear to my heart,” said Dr O’Leary.

“If you are from Munster, there is a strong likelihood either you or a loved one has paid a visit to the CUH Children’s Unit. Each year, the heroes of this unit nurture, care and heal our little, and not so little ones. In the unfortunate case where a hospital visit requires an operation for the children of Munster, they experience this in an environment built for adults.

“Up until now, children of Munster have had to share operating theatres with adults because lists are not separated and it is not a child/youth-friendly environment. The CUH has finally assigned a dedicated operating theatre solely for children and now with this, it requires funds to fit out the theatre with appropriate equipment and design and get the facility resource functional and operating.

“I am hoping to raise funds to achieve this important initiative and I am encouraging others to be involved in achieving this with me.”
