Cork’s city farmers are getting together to swap plants, seeds and garden tools

What a wholesome afternoon.
Just stone’s throw from the city centre is a re-claimed, tranquil little space, where members of the local community grow their own organic fruit and veg.
This weekend Stephen Street Community Garden, formerly a disused basketball court, is teaming up with Cork Zero Waste to host an afternoon of plant swapping, a garden tour and a talk on food waste for the eco-conscious queens among us, looking to green our fingers and do more for our environment this summer.
“Bring up to five total indoor and outdoor plants, cuttings, seeds, garden hand tools or soil/compost/potting mix (max five litres) to swap,” said the Cork Zero Waste crew on Instagram.
“At 12.30pm there will be a tour of the garden followed by a short talk on reducing food waste by us and one on composting by the garden,” they added.
